Amharic Translation
Amharic is the official language of Ethiopia. Amharic is spoken by more than 20 million people worldwide.
Amharic is believed to have evolved from the Semitic languages that were introduced into Ethiopia from the Arabian Peninsula. The Ethiopic alphabet used in Amharic is also believed to have had its ultimate origin in Arabia. Amharic was originally written from right to left and eventually switched from left to right.
Amharic belongs to Afro-Asiatic (Hamito-Semitic) family of language. All the Ethiopic languages descended from Geez, the ancient literary and ecclesiastic language of Ethiopia.
